Komen St. Louis’ 2014 Survivor of the Year: Dede Hoffmann

There are more than 3 million breast cancer survivors in the US today. At our 5th Annual Power of a Promise luncheon, we recognized an outstanding breast cancer survivor who is committed to the Komen mission.

Although she could not be with us in person to receive the award, it was a pleasure to present the Komen St. Louis 2014 Survivor of the Year Award to Dede Hoffmann.

Dede is a two-time, 12+-year breast cancer survivor who is currently living with breast cancer – and kicking cancer with her “cancer-kicking boots”!

Her involvement with Komen St. Louis began in the early 2000s when she started volunteering for the Race for the Cure. She chaired the Komen St. Louis Race for two years. She has chaired our breast cancer survivor luncheon as well as our grants committee.

She just completed her third year as President of the Komen St. Louis Board of Directors and remains on our Board.

Dede has served as a passionate spokesperson, leader and advocate for the Komen St. Louis Affiliate and for Komen. Even when faced with a re-diagnosis of this disease, she continues to devote herself tirelessly to Komen St. Louis and to the mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever.

Congratulations and thank you for all you do, Dede!
