Susan G. Komen® Missouri is an independent, local nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the breast health needs of the women, men and families most at risk and most in need in our 38-county Missouri/Illinois service area.

This past year, Komen Missouri grant funding helped provide more than 23,789 screening and patient support services for individuals in our community who otherwise may not have had access.

Through your donation, we can continue to strengthen our investment in the local fight against breast cancer.

Eighty-one cents of every $1 raised enables Komen Missouri to grant funds for life-saving local breast cancer screening, breast health education and patient support services plus cutting-edge global breast cancer research.

508 women lost their lives to breast cancer in Missouri last year. Your $100 gift could fund a life-saving mammogram this year.

Holiday Giving to Help All Year Long

2013Annual-Appeal-Web-Banner_small_ew

“This past year, our Komen St. Louis-funded Breast Health Screening Access Project provided patient navigation services to more than 1,000 women.”

– Chereese Agard, Breast Health Navigator at Family Care Health Centers

Imagine a woman’s overwhelming sense of not knowing what to do next after she’s diagnosed with breast cancer.

Thanks to Komen St. Louis funding, local organizations like Family Care Health Centers are easing such fears. The Komen St. Louis-funded patient navigation program helps guide women through the complex health care system and gain access to life-saving breast health services.

Komen dollars make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients every day.

And we can’t do this without your support.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 this holiday season. This amount could help provide 880 hours of patient navigation to guide women through their breast cancer journeys.

Your year-end donation to Komen St. Louis will help ensure women and families in our community have access to quality breast health services all year long.

Thank you for giving back to Komen St. Louis. Thank you for supporting our mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

During this special time of year, I like to reflect on all I’m thankful for. As a 12-year, two-time breast cancer survivor, I am fortunate to count my many blessings.

While some of us are blessed with good doctors, health insurance and support systems, many breast cancer patients are not.

Imagine a woman’s fear when she feels a lump in her breast but knows she cannot afford a mammogram.

Imagine the devastation when a woman is told she can’t obtain life-saving breast cancer drugs or when she can’t pay for the bus ticket to get to her treatment.

From medications to treatment, research to support, Susan G. Komen dollars bring hope to patients and inspiration to researchers.

Komen St. Louis funding supports local organizations that deliver life-saving breast health services – including free mammograms and navigation through the health care system – to those who may not otherwise have access due to low income, lack of insurance or other barriers.

Komen-funded researchers in St. Louis are working to develop personalized breast cancer vaccines, to develop drugs that will prevent breast cancer recurrence, and to determine a treatment for triple negative breast cancer.

Komen dollars make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients every day.

Because so many need our help, I’m asking you to help Komen St. Louis by contributing to our 2013 Annual Giving Campaign. Your donation will make a difference to women, men and families in our community facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

Our mission – to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures – has never been more important. And we can’t do this without your support. Please make a one-time or monthly donation today.

Susan G. Komen has touched nearly all of our modern approaches and treatments for breast cancer. Even my own survivorship depends on continued support of breakthrough research.

With your support, Komen St. Louis can continue to provide real-time help to those in our community facing the disease.

With your support, Komen can continue our quest in the fight against breast cancer.

As an 11-year, 2-time breast cancer survivor, I am more than familiar with my treatment facility, the nurses and the procedures. There’s a bit of comfort and a tiny sense of control in knowing those pieces in my breast cancer battle. I recently witnessed the fear and confusion in the eyes of a newly diagnosed breast cancer patient as she stepped up to the check-in desk. On the brink of tears, she offered her name to the breast cancer navigator. The navigator gently cradled the woman’s elbow and assured her that she would have a companion to help her find her way along the complicated, endless maze of floors, rooms and appointments.

As Komen St. Louis Board President, I was proud to recognize Komen dollars at work. This breast cancer patient navigator program is but one of the instances where Komen dollars make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients every day. Right now, Komen St. Louis funding supports 25 local organizations that deliver life-saving breast health services – including free mammograms; navigation through the health care system; and emergency financial assistance, meals and medical supplies – to those who may not otherwise have access due to low income, lack of insurance or other barriers.

Because so many need our help, I’m asking you to help Komen St. Louis by contributing to our 2012 Annual Giving Campaign. Your donation will make a difference to women, men and families in our community facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

As a Komen St. Louis volunteer, I know your donation will make an immediate impact. As a breast cancer survivor, I thank you for giving back this holiday season. With your support, together we are saving lives in our community!
